5 Foods (Other Than Chocolate) For Your Valentine
On Valentine’s Day we express our appreciation for those closest to us. When it comes to showing it, there are many methods to choose from. You could write a song or pick up a card, surprise them with a gift or fresh flowers from your neighborhood’s first choice – all wonderful ways of saying “I care about you!”
But one expression stands true – the best way to the heart is through the stomach! Give any of these great gift ideas a try this year for your Valentine!
1.) No-Bake Cake Pops
Nothing is better than no-bake recipes! Cake pops are easy to make, simple to dress up and only require a few ingredients and accessories to complete! They are easily customizable – with hundreds of different flavor options and decoration methods out there you are sure to find the combo that suites your sweetheart swell!

- Cake Batter
- Sugar Cookie
- Peanut Butter
- Strawberry Shortcake
The Basic How-To?
- Mix your ingredients until a PlayDoh consistency.
- Use a tablespoon-size spoon or scoop to portion out and roll your balls between your palms until smooth.
- Lay out your cake balls on a wax paper or parchment lined baking sheet and chill in the fridge for 15-30 minutes. (depends on ingredients)
- Prepare your coating mixture – usually meltable candy or chips.
- Coat your balls once they have solidified, apply your sprinkles, drizzle or decor and allow the coating to dry before wrapping/decorating/arranging as desired.

2.) Apple Roses
When it comes to unique treats to surprise that special someone, these apple roses are quick to prepare with a gorgeous final outcome. All you need is puff pastry, 1-2 apples, some cinnamon/honey/fruit preserves, a muffin tin and some time to bake.

3.) Yogurt Covered Fruit
While we’ve all heard of chocolate covered strawberries, yogurt covered fruit would make a delicious debut for your Valentine. It’s remarkabley simple – just bowl out your desired yogurt, place your fruit (or pretzel! or cookie!) on a fork and dip it in. Place the dipped morsel on a wax or parchment lined baking sheet, decorate and freeze for at least an hour.
