The Rise Of Fusion Cuisine!
With thanks to the idea melting pot that is the internet, fusion cuisine is all the rage and we are loving it! The idea behind it is to combine one iconic dish or cuisine with another to make something uniquely its own. Some cuisine fusions may come off questionable, but that all changes once you try it!
We’re big fans of jalapeño here at Best, so when we picked up a few of Chrissy Teigan’s mini dutch ovens we wanted to push the boundaries a bit and turn up the heat. The result? This super cheesy, spicy, bacon-laden lasagna. The idea to layer jalapeños, cream cheese, cheddar and bacon between noodles and bake it off is one we’re pretty proud of, and you will be too if you give it a try at home! The best part of this recipe is it can be done in half the time in a mug and microwave!
Pile on your favorite toppings and don’t skimp on the cheese, because we brought two utensil-free, hand-held, on-the-go favorites together with this meatless Taco Pizza. Ready in no-time using good AND good-for-you ready to cook Caulipower Pizza Crust, it starts with a layer of your favorite salsa rojo. Next comes your favorite cheese (we used cotija) followed by whatever taco-seasoned protein you crave (we used Tex-Mex jackfruit by The Jackfruit Company). Make 8-10 minutes, take it out and pile on your favorite taco fixings for an at-home pizza that’s great for pizza night or Taco Tuesday!
Cheesy, hearty potato skins meet cheesy, hearty philly cheesesteak! They may as well be a match made in heaven! This recipe really goes for the full philly cheesesteak effect, calling for steak, green pepper and provolone. With a separate recipe just for making the perfect potato skin shells you know you’re in for a good time. Feel free to use any steak in this recipe, but it’s worth noting that leftovers do great. Serve these up as an appetizer or side dish to see the “ooo”’s and “yum”’s yourself!
Looking for a MAC that will really make waves in your kitchen? This recipe is loaded with authentic Indian and other fine ingredients that make it the definition of “Cali-cool mashed up with traditional Indian flavors”. Starting with toasting green cardamom, black cardamom, a cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and fenugreek seeds on the stovetop, you will actually grind your own toasted Indian spices yourself! From there on the recipe is pretty standard, though the usage of ginger, tomato paste, sour cream, cheddar cheese AND gouda really take this mac to the next level of flavor and culinary creativeness.
A Greek favorite meets the hand-held delight that is a quesadilla for a cheesy, fun and delicious meal great for a weeknight or throw-together lunch. Just imagining chicken breast and onion in a cheesy tortilla heaven of spinach, cream cheese, feta with all the best Greek seasonings is enough to get anyone excited! And who wouldn’t be at least a little tempted to try them with some salsa or hot sauce?
Your favorite Chinese take-out add on just met the best “less is more” sandwich combo around! Oven roasted turkey breast, crispy bacon, melty swiss cheese, juicy tomatoes and creamy avocado slices are all packed and fried together in a crunchy & delicious egg roll wrapper. They are such a fun and easy way to change things up for lunch or dinner time. You can even make it a family activity with an “assembly” line for the filling and wrapping of the rolls! Cooking is easy too, just 3-4 minutes on the first side and 1-2 minutes on the stovetop. Don’t forget to serve with an awesome dipping sauce!
Watch out – this ain’t your average burger! Taking America’s favorite food and giving it a gourmet Asian-style twist, this recipe utilizes miso, sesame oil and Sriracha to season up the star of the show, portobello mushroom. Topped with a cucumber ribbon salad, carrot slaw, and Asian guacamole, this is one fusion recipe that’s sure to get some “wow”’s from anyone you serve it to!
The breading, the sauce, the cheese, the chicken – you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t love chicken parmesan! In this recipe, chicken parm is combined with an Asian favorite – wonton wrappers – to make these bite-sized flavor-bombs of joy. And while finger-food recipes like this can sometimes be time consuming, this is really as easy as cooking up chicken cutlets to your liking, chopping it into cubes, mixing with your sauce and cheese, distributing to the pre-baked wonton cups and melting it all together.
We’re really happy we found this Bavaria-Meets-Mexico recipe in our search for the coolest fusions, because we got to learn about Carl The Great Bratsgiver AND Bratsgiving which happens in August. (Who knew!?) These tasty tacos star your favorite bratwursts cooked in a “Brat Hot Tub” AKA a baking dish filled with beer, onions, peppers and butter. Assembled in a toasted tortilla with shredded cabbage, cheddar, mango-pineapple salsa, avocado crema, cilantro and scallions – consider our calendars marked for Bratsgiving on August 16th!
Curry and rice can take a backseat for a minute, cause this Thai Red Curry Risotto (with chicken thighs!) is about to take things up a notch. We can’t get enough of the way the Italian classic risotto and the specific directions required are perfectly synchronized with authentic curry ingredients like coconut milk, ginger, red curry paste, lime juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, bok choy, pineapple and basil. It sounds out of this world that the two can be combined, but this recipe has done the impossible!
